5 Unique Baby Shower Gifts that Rock!
While it’s true that a baby registry is helpful for new mommies to get all of the stuff they need to prepare for the little one’s arrival (check out my list of must haves for your newborn), it’s not really a surprise for the guest of honor when she opens up things that she personally chose for herself and her baby. Trust me, there will be plenty of little outfits and blankets and burp cloths for everyone to oooh and ahhh over. But, oftentimes new mommy’s get so caught up with putting together their nursery in the nesting phase that they don’t really think outside the box for what they will need when their baby comes. So, get ready to blow some minds as these 5 unique baby shower gifts are sure to please any mommy-to-be!
1. Photo Shoot
Newborn photos are all the rage on social media, and what new mommy doesn’t want to show off her brand new bundle of joy? Help take one more thing off this mommy-to-be’s “to do” list by grabbing her an appointment with a local newborn photographer! This one may require some sneaky before-party coordination with daddy-to-be, of course, but totally worth the extra effort!
Here’s one of our newborn photos!
2. Subscription to Highlights “Hello” Magazine
My grandmother signed me up for these “Hello” magazines, and my kiddo and I have loved them! You get a new magazine every month, and it has a range of fun stories, rhymes and pictures to look at that are geared towards the under two set. Because these are lightweight and thin (but super durable! Even after my teething baby chomped and slobbered all over them, they are a-ok!), they are perfect to pack along for travel and outings to keep any little one occupied. I even store a couple of these in my purse for when we’re in the line at the grocery too long! Get a one or two-year subscription and it’s the gift that keeps on giving!
3. Meal Service
I tried to meal prep with freezer meals prior to having my baby, but I didn’t have a whole lot of energy during my third trimester since waddling my extra-large self around took up everything I had. Sign up mommy for a couple of meals to be delivered to her door during the weeks after her due date, she will be sure to thank you for it!
4. Massage for Mommy
Getting ready to become a new mommy is stressful on the body and the mind, and a prenatal massage is just what the doctor ordered!
Becoming a new mom is hard work! When I had my newborn, between breast feeding, pumping and erratic sleep schedules, I could barely find time to get in a shower, let alone get the housework done! Hiring a maid service to come by and do some cleaning up a few weeks after the baby is born is a great way to help this new mom keep her focus on the baby, while keeping her house in order!
6. Bonus gift! Sign them up for a breastfeeding class!
Most new mommies are worried about what breastfeeding is going to be like and how to do it right. Give them this amazing gift and put those mama’s minds at ease! Sign up with the link below!
